My girls used to get nits all the time when they were little. After having tried and tested every nit product out there, conditioner, vinegar, tea tree oil ect ect my recomendation is hair dye!!
I used to just buy boxes in their natural hair colour.
Never had nits again!February 19, 2016 at 3:14 pm #1881queen22Participant
I have worked with children since i finished high school. Parents used to call me the “bug crusher” at a school i used to work at as i was always finding little critters in their kids hair. In some weird ass way i actually love picking nits out of my nephews hair, their like pimples for me! ( eww your probably thinking, i know :p) hahah!
I myself have had thick hair for years and the critters loved it! So my mother became a nit queen, she tried everything until she found a solution! AAAAH HA! it worked
1. KP treatment ( the little pink bottle) …. yes i know its full of chemicals but the natural shit isnt working. We found most of the “natural” shampoos were actually worse!
2. Once you’ve washed the hair, im sorry to break it to you but.. the eggs are NOT dead. They will hatch.
Pick as many eggs out as you can , yes this will take hours but its the only way to get rid of eggs permanently
3. DO NOT WAIT 7 DAYS to do another treatment, the key is to BREAK the cycle. Put it through the hair again after 5 days.
4. washing your bed sheets and pillow cases normally does not kill the bugs. KP sell a solution which you drown all your sheets in, ALL SHEETS AND PILLOW CASES IN THE HOUSEEE!!
this was the only method which worked for me! never had them since!
xx hopefully i helped you gorgeous women!!February 19, 2016 at 3:49 pm #1890KiniParticipant
Oh my god! Hearing you about the head lice! School holidays are suppose to be nit free but my step son managed to give them to my 19 month old!?!? What the actual fuck? Best thing that worked for me is conditioner. Soak their hair in conditioner and leave it for 30 minutes. Nit comb it out. And fly spray every thing and thru in the dryer.February 26, 2016 at 10:14 am #4337QueenMotherParticipant

I remember doing the nit cleaning when I was a kid, it sucks! all bedding, plush toys and such were washed then frozen for 2 days, and hair was washed with nix. then it was the dreaded hair combing to find all the bugs and eggs. not looking forward to the day my little one comes home with nits!March 3, 2016 at 10:45 am #4896SammParticipant
Went through the same thing with mine when she was little. Year 2 (7yrs old) was the worst! Had nits for a whole school term (10 weeks)! Got soooooo close to shaving both her & my hair completely off! The only thing that worked was putting a cheap conditioner thorough her hair daily & combing the suckers out.September 21, 2016 at 9:09 pm #6726PaulaParticipant
We had nits alot at the beginning of the year. So sick of it!! I made my own spray I put in the kids hair every day before school. 2 cap fulls of tea tree oil 2 caps full of eucalyptus oil and one of lavender oil,in a spray bottle, it’s strong but we haven’t had nits since. Also pantene is supposed to put a something on the hair they don’t like. No nits since, hooray!!October 25, 2016 at 8:06 pm #7030AnnabelleParticipant
Yes F**king nits!! They are living, breeding and causing scratches in our house too!! Nothing more satisfying then squishing them. F*** off you’re not welcome here!! Yuck!
